The sun may have been shining over the valley of the Ourthe, but the parcours was still very slippery and technical. Riders had to conquer four laps of four kilometres each. Gerrit Delfosse took the best start, but saw Jimmy Tielens join the party on lap two. During the next lap Tielens made the difference.
“My first lap wasn’t great,” said Tielens, who took his second season win in the Benelux Cup. “I knew I was better on the technical sections, so I waited my turn to make the difference at the right moment and then build my gap. The parcours is absolutely fantastic.”
Peter Douha took the win in the Masters 2 ahead of Dutchman Maikel Govaarts. Kurt Tempst had an off-day after his Thursday crash. In the Masters 3 race Ronny Geerts was the fastest and most skilful of the lot. The Fun category was for Jeroen Van de Vijver, who won ahead of Sam Malfliet.
